George "Lisle" Cheatham, II
Certified Financial Fiduciary®
I was raised in South Central Kentucky, where life has allowed me to serve this Commonwealth, my community, and my clients in several capacities over the years. Both my parents believed strongly in service to their community and their fellow man. That’s what led them both into the medical field as a doctor and nurse. That same commitment to service is why they chose to practice medicine in rural Kentucky where there was a desperate need for access to quality healthcare.
While the medical field didn’t become my chosen vocation, it's with that same small town Kentucky value and commitment to service that has been a cornerstone of both my business and public life over the years.
After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 1989 with degrees in both economics and political science, I went to work with a Wall Street based investment firm, First Investors Corporation, where I became a District Manager. However, out of a desire to concentrate my time on working directly with my clients, I, along with my partners at the time, started the independent financial services company, American Financial Consultants, Inc., the company I own today.
Over the years, I have been given the honor to serve the Commonwealth of Kentucky in several capacities–as chief assistant in the office of Governor and Lt. Governor of Kentucky, Chairperson of the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, executive board member of the Kentucky League of Cities, Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education Rural Access Task Force and Kentucky Local Distribution Fund Oversight Committee. However, none of these have been as near and dear to my heart as my 16 years as Mayor of my hometown.
For the past 30 years, it’s been with this same commitment to service that I strive to help my client’s financial goals and dreams become a reality. I believe it is important to invest my time to understand what you’re working toward before you invest your money. It's also important to understand the level of risk you're comfortable accepting when investing so we can balance it with the steps necessary to reach your long-term goals. Whether you're planning for retirement, saving for college for children or grandchildren, or just trying to protect the financial future of the ones you care for the most, we can work together to develop specific strategies to help you achieve your goals.
Along with my securities and insurance licensing, I am also a Certified Financial Fiduciary® and have received my certification in the Bucket Plan® Best Interest Planning Process. Over the years, I have been a contributor to several publications such as the Lane Report the Advisor Confidence Index published by AdvisorBenchmarking.com and Rydex Investments.
My greatest pride, however, is my daughter, Eva M. Cheatham, JD, a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law and currently a clerk for the United States Court of Federal Claims in Washington, DC.
